The Canada Border Services Agency has provided an updated summary outlining the current national trade compliance priorities for 2011. National priorities (NPs) concerning the the Tariff Treatment, Tariff Classification, Valuation, and Origin programs for which the agency is responsible are determined through a risk-based, “evergreen” process; i.e., new NPs may be added throughout the fiscal year. NP verifications may also be carried over from previous years when, for instance, the preliminary results require the CBSA to expand their initial scope and issue further targets for verification under the same national priority.
